So it all started here

What we thought was some minor rust, after picking away at it, became a big hole. We decided to fix rather than try to sell since we already had time and money into it. Not to mention how long it took to find a decent 2 door.

So after some discussion, we all decided that the stiffeners from ruff stuff would be the best solution.

Rob was nice enough to let us use his POR15 on the inside of the stiffeners

Dropped the cherokee off on a Sunday. Came back on Monday to start the prep work

Just a typical day at BBOR.

First thing we had to do was cut off the front 8 or so inches off the stiffeners per the instructions. The full piece is used for long arm setups.

Then came the fun part...stripping down the rails
driver side

Passenger side

And now it's in the shop!

started dropping the cross member, marked and sanded where the welds will be. Notched a section of the stiffeners in the rear by the leaf spring hanger so they would sit flush and then called it a day.

You should put some pics up of the trans crossmember hanging off the drivers side by a thread of rust

Got some more work done on Melanie's XJ tonight. Mike was moving at a good pace up until he ran out of wire for the welder. Hopefully he can pick up some more wire tomorrow and tackle the drivers side.

Had to replate the rear a little bit. The steel worked Nicely too Paul. I finished grinding the paint off and we fit a piece right in.

The beefiness of these stiffners is insane...They aren't going anywhere.

The drivers side is going to be a fun task.

It was busy down there last night that's for sure. For the wire i'm not sure what size he uses, you'd have to text him.

Quick Update.

We have the passenger side patched and all boxed. We started work on the drivers side last night. I cut the patch panel that will go from the LCA mount to the back of the crossmember. Mike got the placement set for the stiffener and ground down all the spots to be welded.
